It’s important to start dental care at an early age to prevent future problems and to establish good oral hygiene habits that will last a lifetime.
We recommend bringing your children in for a quick consult at 2 years old so that our dentists can determine if there are any developmental issues. The goal is for this to be a stress-free and positive experience for your child as we likely will not be performing any dental procedures. Rather, we will be doing a visual extraoral exam and introducing ourselves. At the end of the appointment, they can select a prize out of our treasure chest!
We then would like to see them back at three years old to try an intraoral exam and cleaning. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings, along with fluoride treatments and teeth sealants, can help to protect children’s teeth and keep them healthy. If necessary, fillings can be used to repair small cavities and prevent the spread of decay.
It’s also important for expecting mothers to take care of their own oral health, as pregnancy gingivitis is common and can affect both the mother and the baby. Overall, it’s vital to establish a strong foundation for dental health in children to ensure they have healthy teeth and gums as they grow.
